Common questions
If yours isn't here, ask us. We're happy to explain.
Do I need an outside tap?
Usually, yes. Most systems run from an outside tap, with a splitter so you can still attach a hose. If you don't have one, it's normally straightforward to have one fitted, and we'll talk it through at the survey.
What if my wifi is weak in the garden?
We check the signal at the survey. Often the controller can go somewhere the signal is good, such as a garage or the back wall of the house, or a wifi extender solves it. Controllers keep their schedule if the connection drops, so the garden still gets watered; you just can't change things remotely until it's back.
Can I still water by hand?
Yes. You can run any zone on demand from the app or the controller, pause watering for a few days, or switch it off. The splitter on your tap means a hose still works as normal.
What happens in winter?
Water left in pipes can freeze and split them, so in autumn the system is drained and the controller set to winter mode. In spring it is turned back on and checked. Both visits are part of a care plan, or we can show you how to do them yourself.
Does it work with weather forecasts?
Most smart controllers can use local weather data to skip watering when rain is forecast and water more during hot spells. We set this up as part of the install where your controller supports it.
Will I see pipes everywhere?
No. Drip lines are laid at the base of plants and hidden under mulch or soil, and supply pipes run along edges and walls. On roof terraces and balconies, pipework is kept neat and as discreet as possible.
Which areas do you cover?
Bristol and the surrounding area. If you are not sure whether you are in range, get in touch with your postcode.
